ESD 6 Fire-Rescue
The Weir Fire Department started with one engine, one brush truck, and 12 members. Just like the fire service in general, the WVFD has evolved. Today the department boosts nine total pieces of apparatus, two engines, three brush trucks, one tender (portable water carrier) , one rescue truck, two command vehicles, and a new name: Williamson County ESD 6 Fire-Rescue.
Message from your Williamson County ESD #6 Fire Chief:
Greetings to all residents, business owners and visitors to ESD #6
I wanted to share with you all several activities your ESD has implemented over the last
year, in order to better serve you our customers.
12 months ago, the ESD Board of Commissioners approved the hiring of a Fulltime Assistant Chief of Administration and approved daytime staffing of two Firefighters from 8am to 6pm Monday through Friday. Daytime staffing allowed for coverage when most of our Volunteer Firefighters are at work. This action ensured cover during these hours.
The task of the Assistant Chief was to prepare the District for the future. This all began
on June 1, 2024.
In October of 2024, the daytime staffing was expanded to 7 days a week. During this
time, the Board of Commissioners approved and supervised a remodel of the nearing
30-year-old Weir Fire Station. This remodel allowed for better office, training and future
use living spaces and began the process to support expanded services.
In April of 2025, the Board of Commissioners hired the District’s first Fulltime Fire Chief,
by promoting the current Assistant Chief to the Fire Chief position. This was followed by
the approval in May 2025 to hire the District’s first Fulltime Firefighters.
Which leads to the next milestone the District reach on June 8, 2025. On this date, the
District’s first Fulltime Firefighters started. The District will now have a Firefighter on
duty 24 hour a day, 7 day a week, 365 days a year coverage. These Fulltime Firefighters will still be supplemented by a day staffing Part-Time Firefighter from 8am to 6pm and by the District’s 20 Volunteer Firefighters.
I want to thank all of you within our District boundaries for your support, as your District
strives to continue to improve our delivery of emergency services.
Mike Goth, Fire Chief
Williamson County ESD #6
