ESD#6 – Our Story
About Williamson County ESD#6 Fire-Rescue
Established in 1988, the Weir Volunteer Fire Department in Weir, TX, has served the citizens of the Emergency Services District #6, as well as assisting other local surrounding volunteer and full-time departments, with a proud and dedicated group of individuals wanting to serve their community.
The Weir Fire Department started with one engine, one brush truck, and 12 members. Just like the fire service in general, the WVFD has evolved. Today the department boosts nine total pieces of apparatus, two engines, three brush trucks, one tender (portable water carrier) , one rescue truck, two command vehicles, and a new name: Williamson County ESD 6 Fire-Rescue.
Currently, there are 25 active members with varying degrees of certification; both on the fire side as well as the medical side.
The department has an Emergency Services District (ESD) board, made up of five members, which act as the taxing authority for each district.
The current Williamson County ESD#6 President is Michael Wright.
